Risk Management in Heritage (ABC Methodology) Pacific and Asia

24 & 25 November 2025
This two-day workshop will explore the risk-based approach to collections care and the application of Risk Management in Heritage (also known as the ABC) methodology in practice. The methodology was developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute and ICROOM with other partners.
The course is highly practical, and you will work on case studies involving both historic interiors and collections. Through practical exercises, you will identify, assess, analyse and evaluate risks to collections based on their significance. Additionally, you will explore how to utilize the results of risk assessments for prioritization, cost-effective resource allocation, and strategic planning in the care of collections
This intensive workshop is designed to provide knowledge and foundation to those working in museums, libraries, archives and historic houses in how to effectively assess risk to heritage collections. The workshop will be conducted online through a combination of interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and practical exercises, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
