In this course, you will learn how to prepare for emergencies and develop an effective strategy for managing emergency response and recovery for your collections in practice.

You will learn:

  • How to assess risks to collections as a first step in emergency planning. You will learn how to identify, analyse, and evaluate risks to collections in practice and how to incorporate the results of the risk assessment into your emergency planning.​
  • How to develop a meaningful emergency management strategy and create an emergency plan for collections to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters
  • What kind of training is required for efficient emergency response, beyond practical salvage of collections and emergency drills.

The course is highly practical and is conducted through a combination of lectures, case studies, and practical exercises, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

Course leader

Andor Vince has an extensive experience in emergency planning for heritage organizations, including at local and regional levels. One of his key areas of expertise is developing emergency preparedness programs based on risk assessment for collections, developing emergency response strategies, and creating training programs for effective emergency response and recovery.

Andor is running the Emergency Development Program for Heritage Organisations with focus on leadership, communication during times of crisis. The program also includes guidance on maintaining self-care, well-being, resilience, and trauma awareness for individuals and teams working in high-pressure emergency response environments.

Andor is passionate about empowering others with skills, knowledge and tools to effectively respond to emergencies and safeguard both their well-being and heritage collections.
